Program Information

The Juanita Basketball Association (JBA) program is the feeder program to the Juanita High School Boys Basketball program and organizes select teams for 4th through 8th graders to compete in the ETL and PEAK leagues.  All players must reside within the Juanita High School boundaries.

Players for these teams are selected through a try out process and all interested players are encouraged to participate. All try-outs are held at Juanita High School at the dates and times announced shortly after start of school year. Team selection is based on player skills, potential, attitude, and effort. Making a team one year does not guarantee a player will make the team the next year. In fact, historically there are always roster changes from one year to the next. All players need to attend both try-out dates for their grade level.

The goal of our program is to assist the student-athlete who is motivated to play basketball at a higher level. We do this by providing a positive environment that stresses fundamentals, teamwork, and dedication to your team and yourself. Through basketball, we strive to teach our players life skills that will make them successful and outstanding citizens.

We are excited about the upcoming year. Each year we strive to build upon our prior successes and to minimize our weaknesses. Our coaching staff and other key volunteers complete the support system that is so important for our program to continue to reach new levels of success.

This program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and is governed by by-laws with Officers and a Board of team representatives. We encourage all interested parents to be involved with the leadership of this exciting program.

There are many dedicated players, parents and sponsors that support our organization. Our continued success depends on this support. Please contact us and ask how you can help if you are interested. We definitely need you! We encourage our parents, players and volunteers to provide us with input and feedback about the program. If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Board members. Communication is a key to the success of our organization.

Juanita Basketball Association is a member of the Eastside Traveling League. The Eastside Traveling League Basketball program is an independent, non-profit organization that is neither sponsored by nor affiliated with the Lake Washington School District.

ETL is the highest caliber of youth basketball available on the eastside. ETL is the best choice for kids who are seeking more competitive play, are willing to prioritize the ETL team over other sports or teams during the basketball season, and who are willing and able to devote material time to practices, training, games, and tournaments. The ETL teams sponsored by JBA typically have 12 players on a team. Participants on an ETL team will not all get the same playing time, but they will have fun, compete, and develop solid fundamental skills. Details vary by team/coach but the ETL teams generally practice twice a week and play one home game and one away game every week during the season that lasts from December to March.

The next highest caliber teams for each of the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade play in the PEAK league organized by the MI Boys & Girls Club. PEAK teams typically consist of 12 players who want to play competitive basketball but are also seriously pursuing interests in other sports, arts etc. during the season. These teams also require a material commitment of time, but typically not as much as ETL.
